IMPAKT gets national funding for 2025-2028

‘A significant player in digital culture in the Netherlands and abroad’

The national Creative Industry Stimulus Fund (SCI) has recognised IMPAKT as a leading player in the digital cultural field in the Netherlands and beyond.

On 3 July 2024, the SCI announced that it will support IMPAKT in 2025-2028 through its four-year institutional subsidy scheme for the creative industry, recognising the organisation as a ‘cultural institution that implements a comprehensive and nationally leading programme of activities that has international significance within the creative industry.”

Following the decision of Utrecht’s Alderman for Culture not to support IMPAKT under the city’s municipal Cultural Policy Plan for 2025-2028, this decision by the national fund for digital culture and art provides the necessary backing for IMPAKT to continue producing challenging and inspiring events and programmes in 2025-2028.

The SCI selection committee sees IMPAKT as a leading player in the digital cultural field – in the Netherlands and internationally. The advisory report contains the following summary of the considerations of the committee.

The committee observes [that IMPAKT offers] an exciting programme featuring interesting creators and pertinent themes. It notes that [the policy of] working with guest curators and training young curators contributes to IMPAKT’s continuously innovative and progressive programme. The committee values the way IMPAKT initiates and maintains connections with experts, and believes that this brings a level expertise [to the organisation] that is crucial for establishing its position as a centre for discussion on developments in media, technology and digital culture, and their impact on our society. The committee believes that IMPAKT’s role in EMAP and CODE places it in a strong starting position for expanding its international activities. […] The committee finds IMPAKT’s commitment to art that can challenge and engage with society an interesting proposition. The committee observes that IMPAKT is part of a broad network of organisations across multiple domains and that it maintains sustainable relationships.

We are delighted and proud to have received this recognition and appreciation from one of the Netherlands’ national cultural funds.

We would like to thank everyone for the heartwarming support we have received over the past few weeks.
