Arnon Grunberg
A conversation
Arnon Grunberg is a knowledgeable and acclaimed writer who received the 2022 P.C. Hooft-prize for his entire oeuvre. Besides publishing novels, Grunberg regularly takes part in the public debate through his appearances as an anchorman and his columns in various newspapers and platforms. Recently, Grunberg decided to stop writing for Belgian newspaper Humo because of the affair surrounding a brutal statement by Herman Brusselmans about Jews that the platform did not distance itself from.
In this one-on-one conversation, Arnon Grunberg addresses the growing limitations for writers and artists in the public domain, where people judge and lecture each other in increasingly violent ways. Where does this development come from and how can we deal with it?
