Fade into White #4

Kazuhiro Goshima (Japan, 2003, video, 19:35)

Fade into White #4 opens with a metronomic clicking that repeats until it dissolves into a kind of white noise, rendering linear temporality as sonic texture. The camera slowly pans across a magnified surface, producing a subtle sense of displacement before gradually migrating upward. Through haze, figures appear suspended mid-motion, as though time itself has stalled. The recurring image of staircases, sites of ascension and descent, introduces a quiet dialectic between movement and stasis, progress and return. Sound and perspective work together to materialise time as both mechanical and unstable, measured yet perpetually slipping beyond perception.
