Last Episode (Hotel) by Benjamin Nuel
In Last Episode (Hotel), the slow decomposition of a world (unworlding) takes place as a completely virtual level falls apart. The figures within the movie go from being lethargic to trying to escape their fate as the world collapses into a void. Limitations that apply to a regular world, such as gravity and objects being bound to a surface, are dismantled. This collapse of a world is the central component of the concept of my channel. This collapse signifies the stages just before the disillusionment with the world as is. The precursor as you will to understanding reality as a shared illusion. In this movie the artificiality is most sensible as the graphic quality of what Nuel uses in his animation is not cutting edge. It almost speaks of an early epoch in virtuality in which pixels and constructions of levels were still semi-visible. The origin of this type of visual realization screams 1990-1999 where all the chips in which virtual wording took place were of that particular quality which created these graphics. The loss of purpose of people who create death worlds in a world that is collapsing talks about the symbolic nature of the animation and its stance of conflict.
