In You, the World, and I, a personal narrative of a romantic nature unfolds, but the memory of it is uncertain. This distant memory is investigated through virtual images of landmarks traveled by the people in the relationship, as well as found footage of Street View images, which makes the relationship seem virtual in nature. Especially at the end of the movie, the narrative of the so-called partner is called into doubt, as the Street View image of her has disappeared—aligning with the statement that reality is a shared illusion. The narrative of romance is one that can be understood as the consolidation of love which is a powerful drive within the experience of being and gives a sense of self and belonging. His record of a life lived together is seemingly a confabulation and we are in doubt of what real this relationship was. All the intimacies are communicated through symbols and signs that are common denominators. All these images are accessible to everyone who can access the internet, and the intimate nature of the story is the spoken narrative and the absence of personal information and registration that affects the construction of memory. The memory then acts as proof of the relationship having ever taken place. You the world, and I dissolve a sense of identity which is rooted in the memories that people have of who they believe they are, what happens when the record of this memory is no longer accessible due to information not being updated and changing.
